Sonnyjim & The Purist ft. MF DOOM & Jay Electronica: Barz Simpson

A fitting video for one of the more understandably anticipated tracks from Sonnyjim’s recent album with The Purist. Barz Simpson not only features a guest appearance from Jay Electronica, but also a verse from the much mourned legend, MF DOOM. You hear a lot of rappers labelling their upcoming videos as movies, but that’s exactly the energy that we’re dealing with here. ABOVEGROUND is a master of this approach and as usual he manages to pack a lot of visual punches into just under 4 minutes of film. No spoilers, see for yourself above. White Girl Wasted is out now via Daupe.

SONNYJIM & Kev Brown: Bubblegoose x Raf Simmons

A new video for just one of the highlights from the recent full-length collaboration between SONNYJIM and Kev Brown. The duo worked together closely to record the album, something that is definitely reflected in the final product. Kev is another master of his craft and I’m always a fan of hearing Sonny riding soulful beats, so this is a perfect pairing for me. The video was made by Aboveground. A Joint Venture is out now.

Jam Baxter: Bodyslam

Fresh monochrome visuals for one of my favourite tracks from Jam Baxter’s recent album, as High Focus release the new video for Bodyslam. The track sees Baxter uniting once again with frequent lab partner, Chemo, as well as AboveGround who brings his usual skill set to the proceedings. The Touching Scenes album is available now from the High Focus store.

Nah Eeto: Kichaa

Nah Eeto returns with her second new single in as many weeks, as she sets herself up for a dominant 2019. Kichaa (Swahili for ‘crazy’) is produced by Blah’s in-house production trio, Nobodies Home – aka Lee Scott, Jack Chard and Sniff. The video was made by AboveGround. Head to the YouTube page for a full translation of the lyrics and keep those ears peeled for loads more music coming from Nah Eeto shortly.

Dirty Dike ft. Lee Scott: Woah

Dirty Dike returns a new single, this time teaming up with your favourite cult leader, Lee Scott. The two trade verses over a differently rugged beat from Pete Cannon and the whole thing is wrapped up nicely with a slick video from AboveGround – a video which details what would probably be classed as a crazy night out for your average person, but for these two I’m pretty sure it’s the standard. You can stream/download Woah here and stay tuned for the new album, Acrylic Snail, dropping soon on High Focus.

Hock Tu Down ft. Bill Shakes: Breakfast

Lee Scott and Reklews are gearing themselves up to hit us with a new Hock Tu Down album and today saw the release of the first video. Paying homage to the classic end of 90’s freestyle from Eminem and Big Proof, Lee is joined by fellow Blah OG, Bill Shakes as the pair trade verses over a suitably rugged Reklews beat. The video was made by AboveGround. The album is due for release on 26 October.

Ocean Wisdom ft. Method Man: Ting Dun

Good to see one of the high points from Ocean Wisdom’s recent sophomore album getting the video treatment. Ting Dun features Wu Tang legend Method Man, who brings some suitable double-time flows to the proceedings, over a tidy beat from Basquiat. The video was made by AboveGround. Wizville is out now on High Focus.
