Rapsody ft. PJ Morton: Afeni

Afeni is the latest track to be lifted from Rapsody’s 2019 album, Eve. A celebration of black female power, each track was named and dedicated to an influential woman. Afeni, which samples Keep Ya Head Up and also features PJ Morton, is named after 2Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, who was an activist and prominent member of the Black Panthers. A remarkable woman, who managed to successfully prove her innocence during a trial in which she represented herself, while facing a 300 year sentence. She had no formal legal education and she was pregnant for the duration of the eight month trial. Afeni was produced by 9th Wonder and the album, Eve, is out now on Jamla Records.
