Following on from the release of a new video a couple of weeks ago, Black Milk returns with his latest project – the DiVE EP. Having been a fan of the Detroit artist since I first heard Long Story Short roughly 10 years ago, it’s been fascinating hearing how his sound and approach to production has evolved during that decade.
DiVE continues in a similar vein to the Fever album, which emerged at the start of 2018, with elements of jazz and funk brought in and then enriched with flourishes of live instrumentation. Despite being labelled an EP, DiVE is 11 tracks long and also features some stellar vocal contributions from BJ The Chicago Kid, MAHD, Sam Austins and Phil Swish. As is Milk’s usual MO, the EP was recorded and produced in full by him. You can hear it in full below and downloads are also available.
