Black Thought: Streams of Thought Vol. 1 (Stream)

For almost as long as Black Thought has been rapping, his fans – and pretty much the entire hip hop world – have been clamoring for a solo project. Thought had begun working on a solo album a while back, but it was never given life and the idea of us ever getting to hear one from him became one of hip hop’s seemingly unattainable dreams. Even when it was announced a few weeks ago that he and 9th Wonder were working on a project together, it was half-jokingly assumed we’d never get to hear it either.
But today those 25 years of waiting finally paid off, as Streams of Thought Vol. 1 was released. The EP is five tracks deep with a couple of features from Rapsody and Styles P, with the former appearing on my favourite track (for now), Dostoyevsky. KIRBY also provides vocals on the closer, Thank You. Production is primarily handled by 9th Wonder, but The Soul Council (Khrysis, E. Jones, Ka$h Don’t Make Beats, AMP, Eric g.,Nottz, Hi-Tek) are also credited, though I’m not sure what their contributions are exactly. What I am sure of is that after 31 years of rapping, Black Thought seems hungrier than ever and he actually seems to be improving with age – which is ridiculous considering the level he had already reached over two decades ago. The EP is labelled Vol. 1, so I am hoping we are going to get at least another EP from him soon enough. For now, dig into this one and live out a rap dream come true. You can stream the EP below.
