Henry Canyons follows up the sublime sounds of January’s, La Côte West, with a brand new full-length project which could be named after his whole demeanour. Cool Side of the Pillow was one of a few notable releases from Friday 13th, proving that it was definitely not bad luck to be a hip hop fan. While the previous project brought with it a multitude of different producers, Canyons has enlisted just one for Cool Side, in the form of Matt “Bones” Bowen.
Canyons’ pen game seems stronger than ever, with tracks like Goodnight Moon and Special Blend earning themselves instant reloads just so I could retrace whatever lyrical wonders I had just heard. There are some great features too, with billy woods joining the party for It Don’t Mean a Thing, Googie lacing a verse on Innate Communication and Homeboy Sandman dropping in on Special Blend. The latter also features one of two appearances by vocalist, Zoe Rose Palladino. Cool Side of the Pillow is available to stream below, with downloads available via Backwoodz Studioz. Also watch out for an interview coming with Canyons in the not too distant future.
