Lowkey has long been a champion of the underdogs and a fighter against injustice, both here and abroad. The recent tragedy of Grenfell Tower has not only destroyed hundreds of lives, but has now become a huge bone of contention between residents and various official bodies, largely due to the latter’s inability to provide the survivors with the answers they desperately need and deserve.
Ghosts of Grenfell picks up on that theme and uses residents and other people who were affected, as a mouthpiece for Lowkey’s typically powerful lyrics. It is a genuinely moving song anyway, but the video adds a lot more to the impact. Big love to Lowkey and all the people who participated in what must have been a very emotional shoot.
