monument

Another solid album from Granville Sessions has been given life and is now available for your delectation. Monument is the third album from the South London crew, following on from 2011’s No State and 2013’s Forward, both of which were well received by critics and helped earn a reputation for strong lyricism, alongside notable live performances.
The hiatus has this time brought a distinct change in their sound, with more of a rock feel to a lot of the tracks. The band sound tighter than ever as well, an aspect of the outfit that has helped set them apart and elevate them from other UK crews.
The three MCs – Mnsr Frites, Archetype and Luca Brazi – all seem to have genuine fun making this music, which is a definite plus point and shines through on the tracks. Highlights for me include the opening double-time ferocity of The Third Installment, the laid-back soul searching vibes on Pearl and Colosseum, which features the only guest verse on the album from the ever-dope Benny Diction.
The whole album is out now and is ready to stream below, with downloads available over at Bandcamp.
