Cultures of Soul: Boston Creative Jazz Scene 1970-1983

One for the jazz heads right here. Those knowledgeable folk over at Cultures of Soul have put together this impressive looking box set, which looks at Boston’s highly creative jazz scene during the 70s and early 80s. Mark Harvey was one of the main figures involved in the scene throughout that time and he is the man who has curated this selection.
Featuring music from the likes of The Phill Musra Group and Baird Hersey, the tracks were taken from the super rare records that were pressed during that era and basically cover all areas, from free form to funky and everything in between. The album also comes with an 80 page book which documents the history, with plenty of in-depth analyses and photographs. The collection is available now, via Rap & Soul.
